Art at The Farm (previously Every Child is an Artist) is taught by Jennifer Heard.

Jennifer has taught art classes in Webster Parish for over 24 years and has taught at Minden High School taking over their art program since 2021.

Classes are hosted at The Farm of Cultural Crossroads located at 419 East Union in Minden:
Mondays 4:30 PM-5:30 PM Mondays we host students ages 4-7
Tuesdays 4:30 PM-5:30 PM Tuesday afternoons we host students 8-15 years of age

Tuesdays 6:00 PM-7:00 PM Tuesday evenings we host students 16 & up

Classes accommodate 20 students each day, attendees create one work of art per month.

Projects range from sculpture, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, & color pencil. Students learn the basic principles of art including line, color, shape, etc. putting these skills into practical use by creating a completed work of art each month. Students experience forms of art such as sculpting, painting, pastels, & charcoal.

This program will run from November 2023 to October 2024, ending in a gallery showing of the student's artwork. This event will celebrate the student's growth as artists and humans, highlighting their dedication to classes, themselves, and their craft.

Scholarships are available for qualifying students from low-income households. This scholarship program is supported by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council, as administered by SRAC.
